Polar bears are exceptionally well adapted to life in the Arctic, so rolling around in the snow doesn’t actually make them cold. Beneath their skin, they have a thick layer of blubber that can be several inches deep, which acts like insulation by preventing body heat from escaping. Their fur is also extremely dense and water-repellent, with hollow guard hairs that trap air and further reduce heat loss. Their skin is also black, which helps absorb heat from the sun, even in cold environments. Because of these adaptations, snow often feels more like a comfortable surface to a polar bear and if anything, rolling in it can help them cool off after being active rather than warm them up. #snowTO
