"I paint what cannot be photographed and I photograph what I do not wish to paint." - Man Ray⠀
⠀
We produced Enigma & Desire, a collection of paintings by Man Ray. This artbook project was brought to us by Di Donna Galleries. The Exhibition's goal was to show Man Ray's appreciation and understanding they deserve in the context of Surrealism and the evolution of modern art.⠀
⠀
Man Ray was a successful trailblazer in photography through the 1920s. Due to frustrations with the limitations and lack of innovation in photography at the time, he abruptly announced he was abandoning photography for painting in 1937.⠀
⠀
In the late 1930's he created many paintings and ink drawings that were filled with hidden meanings and surrealist imagery. He was an extremely important artist in the Surrealist movement and created several of the most iconic paintings in the 20th century.⠀
