A few years back, I had this manager who’d joke, “Well we all know Kaileigh didn’t do much this weekend,” just because I’d say things like “I watched a movie” or “Went to the farmers market.” Meanwhile, everyone else had stories about wild nights out or back-to-back social plans. And hey—I loved that for them! But it did kind of sting. Like I wasn’t doing life “right” because my version of fun looked a little quieter. 🥲
I’m sure my manager didn’t mean any harm, but I still felt weirdly judged, like I needed to perform a certain kind of lifestyle to fit in. It stuck with me for a while. But time’s a good teacher. These days, I actually love that I take space for myself. I’m proud of the way I slow down and soak up the things that bring me peace.
