The Calgary Board of Education has reported the unexpected death of a Bowness High School student on a trip to Japan. Although the CBE has not released the details of the student's death, it has been confirmed that it was not criminal in nature. The tour was booked through EF Educational Tours, with stops planned in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Takayama and Kanazawa. The trip was available to students in Grades 10-12 and Global Affairs Canada has confirmed its awareness of the death. The CBE has stated that when classes resume on April 3, its Critical Incident Response Team will be available to provided students with the necessary counselling services.
