Recently, the Calgary Police Service conducted a three-week undercover drug trafficking operation at various CTrain stations located along the line. The purpose of this operation was to disrupt the drug trade and discourage the criminal activity in the areas with the most calls for service. In the end, forty people were charged with drug-related offences, weapons such as handguns, machetes, and bear spray were taken, and a variety of drugs including f*ntanyl, m*thamphetamine, c*caine, m*rphine, and X*nax were confiscated. Furthermore, police provided those arrested with access to treatment, shelter, and employment options.
Supt. Cliff O’Brien and Coun. Andre Chabot have both been vocal about the issue, with the former stating that the police will continue to do their best to keep transit areas safe, and the latter noting that he has been passing on every complaint he receives to the authorities.
