Video by joelsartore | I recorded this male proboscis monkey while visiting Indonesia’s tamansafariprigen. Only males have large, pendulous noses, which help their calls carry throughout their home range. The nose is also an indicator of social status— the larger the nose, the more dominant the male. And though they spend most of their time high up in the trees within Borneo’s forests, the species also loves to swim. They can dive as deep as 20 meters (65 ft).
