A train fatally struck a man in West Berkeley on Monday around 11:45 a.m.
In a statement, the Union Pacific Railroad Company alleged the man was trespassing on the railroad tracks near Hearst Avenue and Fourth Street before he was struck. Berkeley Police Department officers arrived on the scene after receiving a call about the incident and notified the Union Pacific Police Department, who is now handling the investigation, according to BPD Officer Byron White.
The Coroner’s Bureau of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said the man has not been identified yet.
