GARAGE -> STAGE Making this piece was a push because we did this is with 5 in person practices and some zoom in a little less than a month. I was honestly nervous to make a piece for monstersdance because the last time I had been there was 10 years ago. I was only there to take class and was happy just to be in a room full of heavy hitters. If you told 13 year-old me that I’d be making a piece for a competition/organization that I’ve looked up to for so long I would’ve never believed it; I used to save up my birthday and christmas money just to be there. But these boys definitely pulled up to the occasion and got 1st in their division and 1st Overall in duo/trio with my choreography. I’ve been working with mateo_escobedo like this since he was 8 years old in jr.jam and now he’s grown so much as a dancer and it’s just amazing to see what he’s accomplished and is capable of now.
