Day 1 of our 3-day motorcycle journey takes us from 2LaneLife HQ in Canoga Park, California to Beatty, Nevada, just outside Death Valley National Park. What was supposed to be a straightforward ride quickly turned into 100+ miles of rain, heavy crosswinds, dirty roads, and constantly changing conditions — the kind of challenges that make motorcycle travel unforgettable. We spend some time riding US Highway 395, pushing north through open desert, before turning onto California State Route 190, the road that drops us into and through Death Valley National Park. Despite the weather, the scenery delivers — vast desert landscapes, dramatic skies, and that feeling you only get when you’re fully exposed to the elements on two wheels. After a long day in the saddle, we roll into Beatty, Nevada for the night and end the day the right way with an incredible meal at Smokin’ J’s BBQ — the perfect reward after a tough but memorable ride.
