These two baby Southern flying squirrels were recently admitted to our von Arx Wildlife Hospital after one individual arrived in need of care and two others were transferred from @peaceriverwildlife so they could recover together. The rehabilitation team conducted thorough examinations and developed treatment plans to support their growth, healing, and species-specific social needs. They are currently gaining strength in the hospital and gradually progressing toward release back into their natural habitat. Fun Fact: Southern flying squirrels are known for their impressive gliding abilities, using a skin membrane called a patagium that stretches between their limbs to glide from tree to tree.
