Aleister Black reportedly suffered a legitimate injury during the brutal Ambulance Match on the first SmackDown of 2026.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Black sustained a broken tailbone during his match against Damian Priest on the January 2 broadcast. The "Archer of Infamy" won the bout, closing the rivalry that had been brewing for months.
Since that night, Black has been noticeably absent from WWE television. However, the report offers a silver lining. Meltzer described the injury as "minor" in the grand scheme of things. Furthermore, it appears Black's absence isn't solely due to the injury.
"Reportedly, the former United States Champion was slated to take some time off, irrespective of the injury he suffered," the report stated. This suggests his disappearance from TV was the plan all along, allowing him to recover without disrupting major creative plans.
We wish Aleister Black a speedy recovery.
