The food we eat matters... for our bodies, and our planet! π
The U.S. government just flipped the food nutrition pyramid... and moved meat and dairy to the top. Despite decades of research showing that higher consumption of animal foods is linked to heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
Meat and dairy are also among the biggest drivers of climate change and biodiversity loss, as forests and other habitats are cleared to raise cattle and the food the cattle eat. In fact, 95% of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon is the result of industrial animal agriculture!
Diets rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds, however, are not only planet-friendly, but they support long-term health and metabolism, and reduce the risk of major diseases!
