Never the same day twice. 🔁 #Crew8 is finishing up research aboard the International Space Station. Growing protein crystals, studying antibiotic-resistant microbes, and testing material flammability were all accomplished during their stay. In space, protein crystals, which can be used for pharmaceutical research, grow larger and more uniform. PIL-02 studied how microgravity affects production of various types of protein crystals. This research could help manufacture and improve medicines. The GEARS experiment surveys antibiotic-ressistant organisms found on station and examines their genetic adaptations to space. Results could support development of protective measures in spacecraft, hospitals, and other facilities. SoFIE-GEL examines how fuel temperatures affect material flammability.
