Here is the takeaway: I cut out like two full minutes of me picking apart my arms and my back…just staring at myself in the selfie camera and listening to how absolutely hideous I was being to myself. And the wild part is, that’s the voice I’ve conditioned in my head. I’ve been insecure about my forehead, my chin, my thighs, my scars, even my armpits. Saying all of it out loud felt kinda ridiculous, not because the feelings weren’t real, but because my body has never actually been the problem!!! The standards are the problem. My body is healthy. My body is strong. It’s carried me through a lot and yet I still let tiny things take up way too much space in my head and way too much of my money. If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and hyper-focused on one small thing no one else even notices…you’re not alone. This trend has been weirdly healing because it humanizes people. It reminds you that even the ones who look confident and put-together still have that internal dialogue sometimes....
