At birth, Murphy suffered a brachial plexus injury, leaving her with very little movement in her left arm. Her parents turned to Children’s Occupational Therapy team for early intervention. Murphy began seeing her occupational therapist, Monica, at Children’s Rehab Clinic in Lincoln at just 5 weeks old. During weekly therapy appointments, Monica and Murphy worked on passive stretching exercises, weight bearing activities, resistive pulling to strengthen her arm and so much more. Early intervention and consistent collaboration with her parents have helped Murphy make strides, improving range of motion and strength in her affected arm.    Now, at 18 months old, she’s quite active and able to use her left arm for almost any play activity. Murphy also battled hip dysplasia, requiring her to wear a lower extremity splint for several months.
