The Jordan Decision was implemented in 2016 by the Supreme Court of Canada. This ‘rule’ states that criminal trials must be completed within a specific time frame. Provincial Courts: 18 months to complete the case Superior Courts: 30 months to complete the case After waiting all those months to get answers, to gain relief that the Government has done their job properly and to punish the criminal held responsible… What if that case we’ve waited to get justice for, got thrown into the wind? Tossed to the side, never given a second look? Due to the Jordan Application, if the timeline is exceeded, the case can be stayed. Charges dropped due to the delay in the Courts. The amount of cases dismissed has grown from 15% to 30%. This is unacceptable behaviour as the Government of Canada is enabling abusers, and diminishing the victims who deserve their justice. #justice #EVE #endviolenceeverywhere #victims #rights #charter #freedoms #survivors #women #canada #criminal #advocacy
