Legendary martial artist and 'Kung Fu Hustle' actor Bruce Leung, also known as Leung Siu-lung, has died at the age of 77, according to CNA Lifestyle. He passed away on January 14, 2026, from unspecified causes. His family is handling funeral arrangements, with a farewell ceremony scheduled for January 26 in Shenzhen’s Longgang district.
Tributes poured in following the news, including from Kung Fu Hustle director Stephen Chow, who wrote on Instagram, “Forever remembering Mr Leung Siu-lung.” Jackie Chan also mourned the actor on Weibo, praising his mastery of traditional martial arts, lasting influence on film and television, and the many iconic roles he brought to life.
Leung rose to fame in the 1970s during the era of Bruce Lee and enjoyed a career spanning five decades. He experienced a major career revival after portraying the Beast in the 2004 hit Kung Fu Hustle and last appeared on screen in 2020. He is survived by his wife Song Xiang and their two children.
