This is Diné design in motion
On January 15, Diné College hosted a spirited fashion show featuring five Navajo Nation designers and speaker Taylor Cheii Begay, marking the start of the spring semester with creativity and pride.
Organized by the Student Wellness Department, the event highlighted the intersection of Indigenous culture, education, and entrepreneurship — creating space for community connection, creative exchange, and student inspiration.
One attendee shared: “Promoting fashion is good for self-identity and culture… I dress semi-traditional because it helps me align with my values and remember my roots.”
Organizers say this is just the beginning, with plans to host more events throughout the year to support students’ growth, engagement, and empowerment through culture-centered programming.
