Before Gov. kimreynoldsia had even signed her name to a pair of laws restricting which school bathrooms transgender Iowans can use and what kind of medical care they can access, she acknowledged she'd likely be sued.
"I have a spreadsheet of lawsuits," she said at a March 21 news conference, adding that it seems like almost every controversial law she signs ends up in court.
The very next day, Reynolds signed the two bills into law.
So far, no lawsuits have materialized. But similar laws passed in other states have been tied up in court, and legal experts predict the same will happen in Iowa.
