Your first look at Rose B. Simpson’s “Behold,” now on view at SFMOMA.
This sculpture depicts a parent and child, connected by beaded necklaces and an ornamental ladder that arcs between their heads. Created for our 4th Floor terrace, the figures gaze out over the city, honoring intergenerational connection and the continued presence of Indigenous people in San Francisco.
As Simpson says, “It asks us to be human with each other, to change our narrative through wonder, witness and a foundation in the soft warmth of our humanity.”
