Did you know oyster shells can and should be recycled? Discarded oyster shells play a vital role in repopulating future oysters and improving water quality. This week, we teamed up with some incredible members of our community, including casualcrabbingwithtia , omnisend and scdnr , to build Manufactured Wire Reefs (MWRs). These reefs provide essential structure for oysters to grow on and create habitat for fish and other small marine life. By helping restore oyster populations, we are also helping clean our waters. Just one oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day, giving us cleaner and healthier water for both people and marine life to enjoy. Want to be part of the impact? Check out the SCDNR website to learn how you can volunteer and help build MWRs. 🌊🦪 #OysterRecycling #OysterRestoration #CoastalConservation
