LIONS CLAIM LEAGUE TITLE: The jserrahockey team put the finishing touches on a Valley Conference title with back-to-back shutout victories in the penultimate weekend of the regular season at Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena in Irvine. The Lions kicked off their dominant showing with an 8-0 triumph over Capistrano United on Friday. JSerra seized definitive control of the game in the first period. Senior Minha Chung scored her first goal of the season to put the Lions ahead 1-0 less than two minutes into the game. Freshman Kyle Bennett and junior Griffin Blake each added two goals in the period to stake the Lions to a 5-0 lead. Blake’s hat trick goal gave the Lions a 6-0 lead. Freshman Jack Breen tallied a goal in the third period, with Blake completing his standout, four-goal performance with an unassisted score to cap the scoring in the Lions win.
