Breathe, Despite by Chaebeom Lim (Rome, GA) is a powerful reflection on loss, memory, and resilience. 🌱 Growing up in Seoul, Chaebeom found refuge in Daebang Park, a rare green space amid the city’s noise. Over time, that sanctuary disappeared, replaced by concrete despite community efforts to protect it. This piece was born from that grief. The human face in the artwork is formed from discarded trash, symbolizing the scars humans leave on nature. Yet at its center, nature still lives and breathes. Roots weave through the image as a reminder of hope: that even after damage, our connection to nature is never fully severed.
