April is
#DistractedDrivingAwarenessMonth. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTS) states distracted driving claimed 3,142 lives in 2019.
Distracted driving is defined as any activity that takes your focus from the road, including texting, talking on the phone, eating, applying make up and more.
According to NHTS, “Texting is the most alarming distraction. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed.”
