Alabama continues to have some of the worst gun laws and rates of gun death in the country, according to an annual report from GIFFORDS Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. The report ranked Alabama at 36 out of all 50 states in terms of its gun law strength resulting in an F on the overall scorecard. The state also had the fourth highest gun death rate in the country. Scorecards are determined after experts analyze the gun laws of each individual state and assess how effective they are at reducing gun violence, the report says. According to the report, Alabama has done well implementing gun laws to address mental health and domestic violence issues but still lacks many effective gun laws.
