As you may know, it's #GiveAtHomeMN week, and we are taking a little trip down memory lane. Who remembers the very first City of Lakes Loppet? The idea was hatched in 2002, and in 2003, nearly 800 skiers participated in the race. . If you were there, you probably remember all the bibs with hand-written numbers. It was a cold and snowless year. Three days before the event, only about 30 people had signed up, and most of the bib order was cancelled. When snow fell on the Friday before, more than 700 more people signed up. A group spearheaded by Margaret Adelsman stayed up through the night handwriting numbers on the backs of old paper bibs that were in Bob O'Hara's basement, so there would be enough for everyone! . Special shout out to the 20 intrepid Founders who have been at every ski marathon and the volunteers who make it possible each year! . 📷: @skinnyskipics
