I feel like the music I’m dropping this year is some of my greatest work. I’ve been collaborating with incredibly talented folks and sharpening my pen. I’ve also been producing more, inspired in part by the work I do with aotahiphop. We’ve introduced hip-hop standards where we find classic records and our students have to remake them. This week we studied Nas’ “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” produced by Large Professor, and I decided to take the samples from that record and create a reimagining of it.
