Canby High School student Jason Hupps just finished reading Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451,” the classic 1953 dystopian novel about book burning, for his English class.
“But now it’s happening at my school,” he said.
Hupps is one of dozens of Canby High School students who are speaking out against the decision last month to pull 36 books from school-library shelves before the district goes through a formal review process over them. The protest, which included students marching during a recent lunch period, joins similar demonstrations around the country as book bans stack up from Oregon to Florida.
