Team LaVallee Battles Brutal Arctic Conditions in Shakopee, Minnesota
Longville, MN (January 27, 2026) – Team LaVallee returned to competition this weekend at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota under some of the most extreme conditions we’ve seen so far of the 2026 season, as a sudden Arctic blast settled over the region and transformed the race weekend into a true test of endurance, preparation, and resolve.
Just weeks after unseasonably warm temperatures forced the cancellation of the Deadwood, South Dakota event, winter returned in full force. A polar vortex drove temperatures as low as minus-25 degrees, creating brutally cold conditions throughout midwest. The frigid temperatures challenged both riders and machines alike — from frozen components and reduced hand mobility to the physical toll of racing in subzero temps.
