'Heated Rivalry' actor Harrison Browne has called out USA hockey after it announced a new policy which essentially bans trans athletes from competing.
The USA hockey's new participant eligibility policy outlines that some hockey programs will be restricted by sex, including girls' hockey programs.
In these programs, athletes will only be permitted to participate based on their assigned sex at birth.
Browne, who also play hockey professionally before transitioning, took to social media to call out the policy.
He said: "USA Hockey is basically telling me I can't play in a recreational league with friends that I played my entire career with. I just think that's crazy."
He continued: Hockey is one of those sports where the culture between the men’s side and the women’s side are so deeply different. I do not feel comfortable playing on the men’s side because of the culture of homophobic, transphobic, misogynist language and practices within that space."
