sandibachom 👇🏽 Today is the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Hitler’s most notorious extermination camp, Auschwitz Birkenau. One of the greatest honors of my life has been to bear witness to the stories of the survivors. Ellie Weisel said. “If you listen to a witness, you become a witness”. I would ask each one how it happened and they all told me “when good people did nothing” Walter Spier (on the left) and Werner Reich (in the middle) were tattooed 10 numbers apart at Auschwitz but didn’t meet until 70 years later we got them together and made a video that’s been seen 20 million times. They were in three of the same death camps. Werner lectured till the day he died about his experiences in the Holocaust to children who were his age when he was taken. When he was 14 years old when the Gestapo came to his house, beat the crap out of him, moved him to several jails before they sent him to Terezin, Auschwitz and Mauthausen. (Sound familiar?)
