LIONS HAND EAGLES FIRST LOSS: The jserra.girlssoccer team knocked rival Santa Margarita from the ranks of the unbeaten on Tuesday with an impressive 2-0 road triumph over the Eagles at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita. JSerra’s first league victory improved their overall record to 6-3-2, while handing Santa Margarita (the top-ranked team in the state by MaxPreps) its first loss in 16 matches this season. Freshmen goalie Kaelyn Vignoni anchored the Lions defensive effort in the first half with five saves. The Lions found offensive momentum later in the half, as sophomore Kaylee Hanna, junior G.G. Szczuka, and sophomore Morgan Woolforde each put quality shots on frame.
