My in-camera audio setup for shooting live sports (FX3).
If you shoot live sports and create real-time social content, embedding announcer audio directly in-camera will save you hours in post. This is my exact sports videography audio setup using the Sony FX3:
1. Wireless receiver → camera
Sennheiser EK 100 G4 wireless receiver mounted to the FX3 top handle.
The AF Out feeds directly into the camera for clean, reliable audio.
2. Receiver cable
A 3.5mm TRS to XLR-3 male cable sends the receiver’s output into one of the FX3 top handle’s XLR inputs.
3. Wireless transmitter → announcer mixer
Sennheiser SK 100 G4 wireless transmitter plugged into the broadcast announcer mixer to capture the live call.
4. Transmitter cable
A 3.5mm TRS to XLR, adapted to a ¼-inch TRS, connects the announcer mix to the transmitter’s mic/line input.
5. FX3 top handle audio settings
Set the handle to IN1 / IN2 so the FX3 records two independent audio sources:
