Jasson Dominguez was a butcher in the outfield, and the bat didn’t turn heads, but it has always taken him time to go off, dating back to the minors. That alone is one reason to be patient. As far as trades go, he is in a weird place. His value isn’t bringing back a frontline starter or a star bat. You won’t see him as a centerpiece for a Mason Miller-type deal where you’re getting a lockdown closer either. Then again, dealing him for a reliever doesn’t seem right either — especially if it’s for a sixth or seventh inning guy. Really, the Yankees should have just shelled out for one of the many middle relievers that were available, like Brad Keller, Pete Fairbanks, or Caleb Thielbar. They didn’t go for big money, and you can keep your young guys, like Dominguez and Spencer Jones. You would think money would be a strength.
