Not a sentence you expect to read, yet laughter was essential to survival. Whether it was lifting the spirits of fellow prisoners or creating small bonds of humanity with a German soldier, humor became their way through the darkness.
Now, maybe don’t laugh during a funeral, but we could all try using humor to connect during dark times. Give it a try.
