Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, who is running for lieutenant governor, accused former Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl of voting with a “homemade fake ID.” Wahl qualified to run for lieutenant governor late Jan. 23, just before the qualifying deadline, stepping down as state GOP chairman in accordance to the party’s bylaws required. Wahl made the last-day entry into the lieutenant governor race only after an endorsement from President Trump in a social media post on Jan. 22.
