These buttery cutout sugar cookies are one of my all-time favorite recipes, and dipping them into marbled icing feels like making edible art. The swirl is easy and looks so beautiful!
Cut-out Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup white sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
How to Make Cut Out Sugar Cookies
In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter until light and smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
Add the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Mix just until the dough comes together.
Wrap the dough and chill for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4–1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes and place on a lined baking sheet.
Bake for 7–9 minutes, until the edges are just set.
Let cool completely before icing.
