For nearly 20 minutes, Lindsey and Nicole Bechter worked together to save a woman’s life last summer during a sand volleyball game. The sisters were refereeing separate games when Nicole heard the sounds of people yelling a woman’s name. “I looked over, and she was just laying on the ground,” she recalled. I was in school for nursing at the time, thinking in my head, ‘I have to go over and see what’s going on, because that’s my duty.'” She ran over to find the woman laying on the ground unconscious, gray and purple in color, and immediately began chest compressions. When Lindsey noticed a crowd of people surrounding her sister while she worked to save the woman’s life, she joined Nicole, and they both took turns performing chest compressions until first responders arrived. Lindsey and Nicole found themselves in the right place, at the right time and with the right skills, to save a life!
