1.30 Update A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions to the Carolinas and Georgia throughout Saturday, with snow totals reaching up to 1 foot in some areas and extreme cold warnings in effect. New data suggests snow totals of 4 to 6 inches across the Western Carolinas, with locally heavier amounts up to 1 foot in western North Carolina. The eastern part of the upstate through metro Charlotte could see 6 to 8 inches, while areas from Raleigh to the Outer Banks may experience up to 1 foot of snow. Places in the Outer Banks will have 60 mile an hour winds for several hours, bringing visibility down. They could have blizzard conditions for several hours in the Outer Banks. The accumulating snow gets well into Georgia, well south into Georgia where warnings exist through Savannah, Tybee, Hilton Head, and Bryan County.
