This summer, we’re looking back at the 2023/2024 school year! Each year, Rockford University and the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement (JACCE) participate in the Day of Service. Last year, RU students, staff, and faculty stepped out of the classroom to volunteer at several local organizations including Noah’s Ark, Kids Around the World, Miss Carly’s, the Discovery Center, Tinker Swiss Cottage, the Burpee Museum of Natural History, the Veterans Drop-In Center, and more. Volunteers helped out around campus as well, assisting with projects in Clark Arts, Starr, Lang, and Seaver. Mary Weaks-Baxter, Ph.D., Director of the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement at Rockford University, said “Our hope is that this Day of Service can be an opportunity for us to consider ways we can reach out to communities in need and recognize how community engagement and activism can unite us in the common goal of working for the betterment of our society and world.” Keep an eye out for info ...
