Tuition-free college is now a possibility for Ohio students from families who make less than $75,000 a year thanks to University of Cincinnati's new Bearcat Affordability Grant. The grant, announced Jan. 7, covers tuition for any undergraduate degree at all of UC's three campuses. UC applicants who meet a handful of eligibility criteria including being an Ohio resident, submitting Free Application for Student Aid, or FAFSA, and coming from a household where the annual income is $75,000 or less will automatically receive the grant. The tuition-free pathway comes amid significant transformation to the higher education landscape, including soaring costs of attendance leaving two-thirds of Americans reporting in a new poll that a four-year degree is not worth the cost.
