Even when he was thousands of miles from home, Jakobe Scott’s daughters were never far from his thoughts. Now for the first time since his U.S. Army service ended, the 24-year-old veteran is settling into a routine centered on fatherhood. “It’s a good feeling for real,” he said. “When I was in the military, I barely saw them at all.” Jakobe recently moved into an apartment in College Hill after a difficult transition out of the Army. He works nights as a security officer while trying to build a stable home for his girls. He hopes they come to see the space as a new beginning.
