Life in the Bennett household is lively and full of love. Mariesa and Chris beam as they talk about their three sons – Aaron, 10; Owen, 6; and Tyson, 3 – tumbling through the hallways, laughing one minute and bickering the next. Three years ago, their world changed when doctors at Cincinnati Children’s diagnosed both Aaron and Owen with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a rare, progressive disorder that weakens muscles over time. “It was a very, very difficult diagnosis,” Mariesa recalled. “I had never even heard of Duchenne.” The shock was a lot for the couple to process, but it gave way to resolve. “Whatever stages of grief there may be, you experience all of them,” Chris said.
