At the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) annual meeting in Washington, D.C., the Georgetown Prisons and Justice Initiative was proud to be represented by Dr. Emily Hainze, director of the Bachelor of Liberal Arts program, who co-presented the breakfast roundtable “Educating Changemakers and Community Leaders in Higher Education in Prison Programs.” Dr. Hainze joined other leaders in a discussion with organizations from across the country, bringing PJI’s perspective and insights from leading a bachelor’s degree program in a carceral setting, alongside Jarecka Dellenbaugh-Dempsey (The Wesleyan Center for Prison Education), Dr. Breea Willingham (Jamii Sisterhood), Alexa Garza (Freedom Education Project Puget Sound) and Ann Duncan (Goucher Prison Education Partnership) as part of the Womxn’s Higher Education in Prison Consortium. #GeorgetownPJI #HigherEdInPrison #WomensHigherEd #AACU2026 PrisonEducation
