Happy International Zebra Day 🦓 Today, we’re celebrating the iconic Grevy’s zebra! Known for their fine pinstripes, tall stature, and famously large ears, they’re a species unlike any other. Come the spring, you'll see two new female Grevy's zebras in the African Savanna: a mother-daughter pair, Zari and Zuri, who arrived this winter from the edmontonvalleyzoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan® Program. 18-year old Zari is quite distinctive: her tongue tends to hang out of her mouth due to an old injury. While it may look goofy, it doesn’t interfere with her eating or hamper her appetite. Her daughter Zuri is ten years old and is particularly tall for a Grevy’s zebra.
