February 1st is National Serpent Day! Serpents, which are also known as snakes, have been prominent on the Lunar Calendar because we are about to end the Year of the Snake. For today, Jared letterpress printed a linoleum cut of a of a serpent that was used for this past Lunar New Year event at the Sacramento History Museum. This linocut was engraved by a colleague who works with Jared at his other job. The text below states, “National Serpent Day” and was typeset in 30 point Caslon font. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. Speaking of the Lunar New Year, we will be celebrating the Year of the Horse at the Museum on February 15th from 11am to 2pm! #SacHistoryMuseum #serpent #snake #museum #printing
