Thieves are removing the memory from on-display gaming PCs and swiftly leaving the store. A number of Costco locations are also showing pre-built PCs without included GPUs. The memory shortage and subsequent price increases over the past six months has created an opening for enterprising criminals; we've seen old RAM disguised as new DDR5 and GPUs swapped out for rocks, among other scams. A Reddit user posted images of pre-built systems at Costco that were powered on and lit up, but there were no RAM sticks in the motherboard slots. Another user chimed in to say that during a recent trip to Costco, an employee said RAM thefts were becoming a problem, so they had stopped fitting RAM in display systems. #costco #gpu #technews #pcnews 📸: accent2012
