I’m always searching for that simplest instrument that perfectly locks in with the melody in my head.
Every melody has a part that fits like a glove, like a deep, intuitive relationship.
Whether it’s a triangle, a shaker, a tambourine, or a hi-hat, there’s something special about stripping the music from an 8-piece band down to its essence—just percussion, piano, and vocals.
In this rehearsal, I’m playing a tambourine shaker and singing the melody to my new track ‘Everyday’ from the album How Should I: Part I.
I’m always in a process of discovery to find which instrument sits perfectly in the pocket with the melody, letting the rhythm breathe and swing naturally.
Sometimes the most minimal sound can ignite the entire groove, reminding us that in music, as in life, simplicity can be profoundly powerful.
Comment “STREAM” to hear the track ‘Everyday’ in its fullness.
