As creators, itâs always exciting when a brand reaches out, but not all offers are legit. Here are some red flags to watch for when evaluating a collaboration:
1ď¸âŁ The email starts with âHey Dearâ or âHey @yourhandleââa clear sign of mass outreach.
2ď¸âŁ They ask you to pay for shipping or products upfrontâno legit brand should make you pay to work with them.
3ď¸âŁ They offer âexposureâ or affiliate options instead of real compensationâexposure doesnât pay the bills!
4ď¸âŁ The brand has little to no online presence or reviewsâsketchy much?
5ď¸âŁ The email username doesnât match the brand name or official domainâbe wary of emails that end in @gmail.com when they claim to be from a big brand.
Pro Tip: Donât hit links from emails that look questionable, instead search the brand online and go to their âContactâ section and note their email format and/or search for the contact on LinkedIn
