Congratulations to Interior Architecture graduate Anastasiya Kurova ‘25 who was recognized by the School of Human Ecology Design Studies department with the Kristin Sobaski Design for Social Innovation Award. The award celebrates Kurova’s exceptional creativity in addressing social challenges through design work. Kurova focused on the role of the designer in making safer and responsible material sources. She explored the concepts of cheap counterfeit design and consumption behavior. Through her research, Kurova assessed chemical testing to determine the lead and PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) levels of a product. Alumna Kristin Sobaski ‘04 leveraged her passion for people and creativity to make a difference in her interior design career. To carry on this legacy and support students who demonstrate creativity in social innovation in design, a community of family members and generous donors created the award in her memory. #HumanEcology #SoHEProud
